The Civil Engineering Department at The University of Texas at Arlington invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in the built infrastructure with a particular emphasis on resilience, security and sustainability of water related infrastructure subjected to natural or man-made hazards. This position is part of the College of Engineering's efforts to strengthen the research thrust areas of the UTA's Strategic Plan 2020: Health and the Human Condition, Sustainable Urban Communities, Global Environmental Impact, and Data-Driven Discovery. We are looking for candidates with outstanding qualifications who share the University's core values of high standards of excellence in teaching, innovative and collaborative research, and service, combined with fostering an open and inclusive environment. Major emphasis will be on collaborative research with faculty members from other departments across UTA and outside the University, as well as local industry partners.
(1)Teach and develop undergraduate and graduate courses in the area of sustainability, security, and resilience against natural or man-made hazards, and especially for water related infrastructure.
(2) Develop externally-funded research programs that result in publications in leading scholarly journals; present research work in leading scholarly conferences; supervise graduate students; and serve on departmental, college, and university committees.
An earned Ph.D. degree in civil engineering or a closely related field is expected at the start of the employment. The candidate should have a background in an emerging research area related to built infrastructure and show a strong commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
