Industrial Hygiene Specialist IV/V (R17-475)
The Industrial Hygienist will engage team members, management and the workforce to drive for continuous improvement in workplace safety and health by leading industrial hygiene initiatives, coordinating safety and health programs and implementing industry best practices across PGE. Be a passionate champion for safety and health and ensure that PGE field operations, plants and new construction have documented and sustainable industrial hygiene procedures to facilitate an injury free workplace for our employees. In addition, ensure work environment is compliance with safety and health regulations and standards. Must be proficient in injury/leading indicator analysis and become skillful in the Company’s computer resource tools. This position will report directly to PGE’s Director of Safety & Health.

The position will be filled by the candidate whose skills best fit at either the Specialist IV or Specialist V level.
Qualifications for candidates who qualify at the Specialist IV level:
Typically, requires a Bachelor's degree in an industrial hygiene related field and 5-plus years professional experience to include industrial hygiene field work, and with developing and maintaining industrial hygiene programs, including experience with employee involvement/empowerment
Eligibility for certification or certification in industrial hygiene (CIH) preferred.
Thorough knowledge of safety and industrial hygiene regulatory standards, including governmental structure and rulemaking procedures and self-insurance standards; safety management systems; Company policies, practices, and philosophy; operations planning and budgeting.
Provides foresight, judgment, and independent evaluation, selection and modification of applied specialty principals and concepts.
Working knowledge of Generation and Transmission and Distribution operations and job hazards is preferred
Working knowledge of computer systems and applications (i.e., MS Office: Outlook, Word, Excel).
Working knowledge of root cause analysis methods and processes
Skilled at writing reports and representing the department at meetings, ability to make impromptu speeches on behalf of the department as the situation arises.
Advanced negotiation and problem solving skills.
Advanced skills of an independent consultant. Can work effectively with large outside groups
Demonstrated group presentation skills.
Demonstrated proficiency in planning, implementing, and leading complex projects and/or organizations.
Conducts assignments requiring application of concepts of industrial hygiene which are complex in nature and broad in depth with minimal supervision.

Comprehensive knowledge of safety and industrial hygiene regulatory standards, including governmental structure and rulemaking procedures and self-insurance standards; safety management systems; Company policies, practices, and philosophy; operations planning and budgeting.
Knowledge of Generation and Transmission and Distribution operations and job hazards is preferred
Highly skilled at writing reports and representing the department at meetings, ability to make impromptu speeches on behalf of the department as the situation arises.
Demonstrated proficiency in group leadership, resolving conflicts, motivating group members, interacting effectively with employees/customers internal and external to the department. Demonstrated proficiency in creating and maintaining partnerships, and in working collaboratively.
