The Senior Utilities Plant Operator is responsible to perform lead work in the operation and maintenance of the City's wastewater or water production/treatment plants.
Applicants will be assessed on the application submitted. Due to the volume of applications received, resumes will not be screened for the purpose of determining who is the most qualified to compete in the testing process. It is the applicant's responsibility to fill out the "Education" and "Work Experience" sections of the application with complete information and adequate detail. Do not substitute any part of the application with the words "SEE RESUME."

One year of specialized experience at a level equivalent to Utilities Plant Operator II in the City of Modesto
Three years of increasingly responsible experience involving water or wastewater system construction, maintenance and repair at a level equivalent to Utilities Service Worker II in the City of Modesto.
Equivalent to a high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate.
License or Certificate
Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid California driver's license.
For wastewater positions:
Possession of an appropriate, valid Class B Commercial California Driver's license with specific endorsements, as assigned, within ninety (90) days of appointment. Failure to obtain the required license may result in release from probation.
Possession of a must possess a Grade III Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator certificate from the State of California at the time of hire.
For water positions:
Possession of a Grade III Water Distribution Operator Certificate issued by the State of California, Department of Health Services.
Possession of a Grade II Water Treatment Operator Certificate issued by the State of California, Department of Health Services.
Possession of a Water Sampling Certificate.
Must obtain a valid Class A or B permit depending on assignment within 45 days of appointment and a valid Class A or B commercial California driver's license, with specific endorsements as required by the job duties within ninety (90) days of appointment. Failure to obtain the required license may result in release from probation or termination.
Failure to obtain any of the required certificates within the prescribed time will result in release from probation or termination.
