Salary : $26.31 - $34.01 Hourly
The Water Treatment Operator II position is located in the Operations Group of the Portland Water Bureau. This position is primarily responsible for operating and maintaining the City's potable water treatment, disinfection and corrosion control facilities and systems associated with the Bull Run Supply. These responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with federal, state and local requirements. In addition, the Water Treatment Operator II position is responsible for operating and maintaining the infrastructure that enables raw water to be diverted as part of meeting obligations under the Bull Run Water Supply Habitat Conservation Plan. The following minimum qualifications are required for this position. Applicants must specifically address and demonstrate in their cover letter and resume how their education, training and/or experience meets each of the following minimum qualifications:
Knowledge and experience applying the federal, state, and local water regulations pertaining to drinking water treatment and drinking water treatment facilities.
Ability and experience collecting and conducting accurate water sampling analysis using analog and digital data-collection equipment.
Knowledge and experience operating and maintaining drinking water disinfection and treatment equipment associated with chlorination, ammoniation, and pH adjustment.
Ability and experience troubleshooting operational problems and acting quickly and decisively in bringing systems back to a normal state.
Ability and experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with those encountered in the course of the work, and to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
Ability and experience analyzing data, drawing accurate conclusions, recording findings, and making appropriate operational changes.
Ability and experience using computer software applications related to the work, including modern, state-of-the-art supervisory control and data acquisition, spreadsheet, word processing, information management (laboratory), and maintenance management systems.
Applicants must also possess:
A valid state driver's license;
A Oregon Health Division Water Treatment Operator Class II certificate at time of appointment;
A Confined Space Certification at time of appointment;
A Crane Certification within 6 months of appointment;
Possess the ability to pass routine respiratory protection physical assessment within 6 months of appointment and ongoing;
A 24-Hour Water Treatment Hazardous Materials Operations certificate within 6 months of appointment.
