The Industrial Applications Chemist/Engineer position provides critical technical and applications development support for new industrial business development, while also managing and overseeing the ongoing implementation of the commercial, technical and operational performance requirements at key existing industrial accounts. This position primarily supports the West Region, however, may support company-wide as needed.
New Business Development:
Conduct laboratory “jar” testing to quantify treatment results
Technical and operational project management for field trials
Develop treatment cost estimates
Identify new application equipment requirements
Data gathering, documentation & analysis
Report writing & technical presentations
Account Management & Retention:
Execution of commercial objectives related to account revenue, forecast growth and management, including annual contract renewals and price lift actions
Leads efforts to identify and develop build out applications at existing accounts
Develops and executes account playbook and service plan
Directs & prioritizes activities of field service technicians and program team to meet customer expectations
Manages contracts, invoicing and pricing, along with costs and expenses, to ensure that profitability and revenue goals are achieved
Works proactively and collaboratively with Regional Program Managers for resource deployment and Playbook execution ensuring customer commitments are met
Oversees and manages the activities of Application Specialists and Technicians associated with the account
Ensures a high level of communication with Regional Program Managers for efficient resource deployment
Responsible for the operation and supply of any sampling/testing instrumentation, equipment & reagents for each account and project
The successful candidate will possess:
BS Degree in Chemistry, Chemical/Environmental Engineering, Biology, Environmental Science or related field
Minimum of 10 years industry experience in industrial water/wastewater treatment and chemical applications
Significant laboratory experience and skills to conduct bench scale jar testing & data analysis
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing
Strong background/experience in project and/or account management
Ability to succeed in a cross functional work team environment
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Highly organized approach to work
Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills
Ability to travel extensively within the region, up to 60% for project support
Candidate must be physically capable of working in challenging work environments if needed with examples being extreme temperatures, negotiating uneven terrain or other work obstacles. Person must be able to lift 45 lbs and have the needed agility and conditioning to safely climb ladders or perform other routine field activities as part of daily work such as field data collection or sampling.
Please note this position is designed for candidates with a minimum of 10 years of experience with chemical applications in industrial water/wastewater treatment. Strong laboratory skills are a must; experience with chemical oxidation technologies is highly desirable. Candidates who do not meet this criterion will not be considered.
