The Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District, which provides wastewater services to the greater Madison, Wisconsin area, is seeking an environmental leader committed to effective water quality solutions to be its next Director of Ecosystem Services. The Director reports to the Chief Engineer and Director and directs the development and execution of next generation water quality and resource recovery solutions and the District’s watershed adaptive management program. The position oversees District functions including resource recovery, source reduction, laboratory services, and regulatory performance and manages an annual budget of $4.2 million and a staff of 17 employees.
Position requires a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred, in environmental studies, natural sciences, environmental engineering, water resource management or related fields and ten years of progressively responsible management positions with strong leadership credentials, including five years of supervisory experience. Qualified candidates must demonstrate a global, holistic perspective on water issues and a record of translating vision to action. Proven ability to build strategic alliances across sectors, to nurture long-term community relationship, and to identify and implement new approaches to achieve improved environmental outcomes is essential.
