Develop and submit federal, state, and local regulatory compliance reporting associated with the SWS landfill and SWS transfer station. Complete and maintain periodic records, logs, and inspection documentation as required by regulatory permit conditions and audits. Demonstrate compliance with safety and environmental ordinances, laws, regulations, or policies. Interface with regulatory agencies, inspectors, environmental contractors, and visitors as required or directed. Prepare technical reports, as directed. Maintain accurate and thorough records of all compliance work. Manage appropriate compliance and maintenance contracts and projects. Assist with educational outreach and special projects as assigned.
Assist with development and maintenance of SWS’ environmental management records and access.
Research and keep current on regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices to provide technical support as needed.
Assist with coordinate environmental permitting and planning of projects and process changes
Review plans, permit applications, and other related work products to identify and close gaps
Serves as primary point-of-contact with regulatory authorities for assigned facilities and operations
Completes all job duties, tasks, and projects within a timely manner or by assigned deadlines
Promotes awareness of and follows SWS safety policies
Environmental Testing, Monitoring, & Maintenance:
Performs routine maintenance or minor repairs to landfill gas collections, including pumps, blower of flare systems, and condensate management systems. Collects oil, water, wastewater, gas, and air samples. Balance individual gas extraction wells at landfill gas facilities. Diagnose or troubleshoot problems with methane and landfill gas collection systems. Regularly monitor well fields periodically to ensure proper functioning and performance. Maintains a working knowledge of the latest technology through the use of technical manuals, the attendance of technical training seminars, and the attainment of technical certification.
Monitors and maintains integrity of landfill environmental compliance and activities including, but not limited to, repairs, corrective actions, gas collection and control system, flare operations, leachate collection, groundwater monitoring network, storm water discharges to ensure compliance with regulations.
Prepare and submit compliance, operational, and safety forms or reports.
Calibrates, operates, and maintains sensitive electronic data collection devices necessary to optimize landfill gas collection.
Performs under the general supervision of the SWS Director
Minimum of 3+ years in a landfill gas or construction environment
Working knowledge of pumps, gauges, etc.
Previous experience related to solid waste management, utilities, landfill maintenance and management, and/or industries such as mechanical, electrical, or industrial specialties.
