The City of Fort Worth is seeking to hire a Material Management Marketing Analyst for the Code Compliance Department, Solid Waste Division. The Solid Waste Services Division operates an award-winning program that continually serves as a role model for managing garbage, recycling and waste reduction services for the residents of Fort Worth.
The key focus of the Material Management Program is the preservation of landfill capacity and the extension of the life of the site through waste and resource management (using resources in the most efficient way possible). Practices include waste minimization, reuse, recycling, composting and other diversion methods.
The Material Management Marketing Analyst is primarily responsible for supporting the team of material management planners. The position is responsible for advancing – either by marketing campaigns and/or businesses and public education and training – the diversion of commercial materials from the industrial, commercial and institutional sectors as well as the residential (single family and multi-family) sectors away from the City’s landfill.
The position is responsible for program research, analyze and design, assistance in developing collaborative commercial relationships, marketing campaigns, publications, public education, and training documents.
The Material Management Marketing Analyst will reside within the Planning Section of the Solid Waste Services Division and will report to that section’s Sr. Planner. Additionally, the position will work with solid waste administration, the waste contract compliance team and Code Compliance’s communication coordinator. It will also collaborate with the Training and Education Section of Code Compliance and receive input/feedback from that section’s Communication Coordinator.
Regular work schedule is a 40-hour week from Monday through Friday. Must be able to work nights and weekends if or when needed.
Oversees and/or coordinates assigned marketing and outreach programs associated with the material management programs.
Recommends and assists in the implementation of communications program goals and objectives; establishes schedules and methods for providing communication program services; and implements communications policies and procedures.
Monitors and analyzes the performance of assigned communications, marketing, and outreach programs. Recommends and implements modifications to systems and procedures.
Promotes and coordinates specific activities within a public education or community program, project or initiative; prepares communications and marketing materials including news releases, fliers, and schedules of events, pamphlets and brochures; oversees social media; and oversees distribution of published materials.
Completes comprehensive analysis of program metrics and benchmarks the metrics to evaluate the results of the program and various marketing campaigns.
Conducts surveys and research to monitor the effectiveness of marketing campaigns; and recommends program changes in response to results. Maintains records and develops reports and correspondence related to the effectiveness of new or ongoing programs or projects; maintains and files related reports; and prepares statistical reports, as required.

A combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties of the position. Typically candidates will have a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Graphic Design, Liberal Arts, Public Relations, or a related field and two years of increasingly responsible experience in communications, marketing, graphic design, public relations, or related field.
Experience in the solid waste, recycling, compost and/or other related environmental industries is preferred.
